Central Government on Monday issued a Gazette notification regarding formation of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal to adjudicate whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction) (MCJK-B) and Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) (MCJK-S) has as an unlawful association.

On February 28, MHA declared the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu & Kashmir (Bhat faction) as unlawful associations for five years.

The move came after the MHA found that these outfits have been engaging in activities against the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

As per the notification, the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction), chaired by Ghulam Nabi Sumji, is known for its anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda.

It also mentioned that the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction), or MCJK-S, chaired by Abdul Ghani Bhat, has been indulging in unlawful activities that are prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty, and security of the country. (ANI)

We Spend 40% On Schools: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday took a dig at the Centre and said that the Central Government is spending only 4 per cent of the total budget on schools and hospitals while the Delhi government, for the past eight years, has been spending 40 per cent of the budget on the same.

CM Kejriwal and Delhi Education Minister Atishi laid the foundation stone for new school buildings in the National Capital’s Rohini today.

“When we go to inaugurate schools, mohalla clinics, and hospitals, people from other parties reach there to raise slogans against us. Today is an auspicious day because four schools are being inaugurated. ‘Aaj toh kam se kam yeh gandi rajniti na karo’ (Don’t do such dirty politics today). You must have read in the newspapers that the Central Government is spending 4 cents of the budget on schools and hospitals across the country. The Delhi government has been spending 40 per cent on schools and hospitals for the last 8 years,” he said.

The Delhi CM further said that there was a time when the condition of government schools was so bad in Delhi that poor people were forced to send their children to government schools because there was no money and the fees of private schools were very high.

“There was absolutely zero education in government schools. Today, there is such a huge gathering in the inauguration of four government schools, which means that people are still hopeful that their children will get a good education,” he said.

The AAP chief emphasized that poor lost hope that their children could get a good education but now that hope has been rekindled.

“Today the infrastructure, teachers and results of government schools are better than private schools. Today, education arrangements for 10,000 children are being made in these four schools. These schools will be ready in a year; their foundation is being laid today,” he said.

“Now we have made a map of the entire Delhi. There are many areas in Delhi where there is a shortage of schools. We have made a list of such areas and schools are being built in there so that arr

domestic sugar production

India Imposes 50% Export Duty On Sugar-Derivative Molasses

The central government has imposed a 50 per cent export duty on molasses, amid a possibility of a decline in domestic sugar production in the current season.

The proposed export duty shall come into force on January 18, 2024, an official notification from the Ministry of Finance said.

Molasses are a by-product of sugar which is utilised for ethanol production to promote a green economy.

Of the total ethanol produced in the country, ethanol from cane juice notably accounts for 25-30 per cent while that from B heavy molasses accounts for over 60-65 per cent. Ethanol from C-heavy molasses and grains accounts for the rest.

The Food Ministry in early December directed sugar mills not to use cane juice or syrup to produce ethanol.

The central government in mid-December, however, allowed the utilisation of juice as well as B-heavy molasses to produce the ethanol but capped the diversion of sugar at 17 lakh tonnes for the current marketing season.

India has already rolled out 20 per cent blended fuel, though, in a phased manner, in April 2023 and widespread availability is expected in days to come.

E20 blending in petrol was introduced by the Centre to reduce the country’s oil import cost, energy security, lower carbon emissions and for better air quality.

The government had advanced the target of E20 fuel from 2030 to 2025. (ANI)

Karnataka Republic Day parade

Siddaramaiah Slams Centre For Not Including State’s Tableau In R-Day

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a blistering attack on the Central government on Tuesday over denying the state’s tableau at the Republic Day parade on January 26.

CM Siddaramaiah took to X and said that the Central Government has insulted the seven crore Kannadigas and it should not test their patience.

“The Central Government has insulted the seven crore Kannadigas by denying the opportunity for the state’s tableau at the Republic Day parade to be held in New Delhi on January 26th. Karnataka faced a similar situation even last year as our state’s tableau was initially rejected. They later permitted keeping Karnataka elections in mind. This time, the central government has again continued its trend of insulting Kannadigas,” he posted on X.

He further said that several tableau proposals were sent from Karnataka, but unfortunately, the Central Government has rejected all these proposals.

“We conceptualised the tableau of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar to depict his immense contributions to democracy and the development of our state. We also sent proposals to depict the contributions of Kittur Rani Chennamma and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda along with the proposals to showcase Karnataka’s rich nature and Brand Bengaluru. However, the Central Committee rejected our request, depriving us of the opportunity to introduce the nation to our state’s immense achievements and exemplary figures,” Siddaramaiah added.

The Karnataka CM also asserted that by denying this opportunity, the centre has attacked on their identity again.

“The fact that the Congress government is in power in the state seems to be a concerning factor to the BJP-led Central Government. From devolution of tax to the injustice in drought relief to the sale of banks, ports, and airports built by Kannadigas, the Central Government is constantly attacking Kannadigas with political malice. Now, by denying the state the opportunity in the tableau presentation, it has attacked our identity again,” he posted on X.

He also mentioned that the MPs of BJP in Karnataka are not questioning this injustice, adding “They have become puppets of Narendra Modi. To whom are they loyal? Kannadigas or Narendra Modi?”

“Kannadigas are already enraged by the continuous injustice from the Central Government towards Kannada and Karnataka. The Central Government should not test their patience. It is not too late yet, the Central Government should immediately correct its mistake and rectify the injustice done to Karnataka by allowing us to participate in the tableau presentation at the prestigious Republic Day parade,” Karnataka CM added. Mega Military Projects Worth Rs 2 L Cr To Be Discussed Tomorrow

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is set to give a big push to indigenisation in the defence sector as the Defence Ministry is scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss projects worth around Rs 2 lakh crore including two mega fighter aircraft projects and the light attack helicopter deal.

The high-profile Defence Acquisition Council meeting led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by entire top military brass is scheduled to be held on Thursday, defence sources said.

The projects on the agenda include India’s largest-ever deal to buy 97 Light Combat Aircraft Mark1A and upgrade 84 Su-30MKIs.

Both the projects planned to be carried out indigenously are expected to open up huge export potential for the Indian military industry, the sources said.

The other major project is the plan to acquire 156 Light Combat Helicopter Prachand which would be divided between the Army and the Air Force which is the lead service for procurement in this case.

The plan also includes buying 400 Tower Artillery Gun Systems which are likely to cost around Rs 6,500 crore. The Indian Army also has proposals related to assault rifle procurement and armoured personnel carriers for discussion at the meeting.

The indigenous Medium Range Surface to Air Missile air defence system for the Indian Navy would also be a critical project for indigenisation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been leading the drive for indigenous defence systems and has virtually banned imports from foreign countries.

Several routes for indigenisation have been allowed for the forces to meet their critical requirements but indigenously developed and designed equipment is given top priority.

India has also been able to get rid of the tag of being the largest importer of weapons in the world by following the indigenisation path. (ANI)

Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

No One Can Stop CAA’s Implemention: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that nobody can prevent the Central Government from implementing the the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Addressing a mega public rally here, the BJP leader lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government accusing it of indulging in “appeasement politics” and urged people to vote to power the BJP government in the next assembly polls.

Shah in his address said that the CAA is the “country’s law” and the Narendra Modi-led Central government is going to implement it at any cost.

“Citizenship (Amendment) Act is the country’s law, no one can stop it and we will implement it,” Amit Shah said.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 aims to facilitate the grant of citizenship to migrants belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christian communities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was notified on December 12 and came into force on January 10 in 2020.

Citing political violence, corruption, and appeasement in the state, the union minister said that chief minister Mamata Banerjee has destroyed West Bengal.

“Mamata Didi came to power by removing the communists with the slogans of Sonar Bangla and Maa Mati Manush, but there was no change in Bengal. Even today infiltration, appeasement, political violence, and corruption are happening in Bengal. Communists ruled Bengal for 27 years, and Mamata Banerjee’s government was formed in the third term. Both of them together ruined Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has not been able to stop infiltration in Bengal. Voter cards and Aadhar cards are being distributed openly to infiltrators in the state and Mamata Banerjee is sitting silent,” Shah alleged.

The Union home minister further said that the people of the state will avenge the ‘political murder’ of the BJP leaders in the 2026 assembly polls.

“Bengal is gripped by infiltration, appeasement, political violence and corruption…In the entire country, election violence is highest in Bengal. 212 BJP workers killed in West Bengal, people will avenge these murders with their votes in 2026 assembly polls as BJP will form a government with two-third majority in 2026,” the minister added.

Shah also alleged that the ‘Trinamool syndicate’ does not allow vast sums of money sent by PM Modi to reach the poor of Bengal.

“Modi Ji sends lakhs of crores of rupees for ensuring welfare in Bengal, but the ‘syndicate raj’ in Bengal doesn’t allow the funds to reach the poor!” the BJP leader said.

Further, listing out the work done by the BJP government at the Centre, Shah said that West Bengal has been left behind from the development due to Mamata Banerjee.

“Modi ji has ended terrorism from the entire country. Modi ji abolished Article 370 for which Bengal’s son Shyamaprasad Mukherjee had sacrificed his life to remove it from Kashmir. Ended leftist extremism. India’s tricolor was sent to the moon through Chandrayaan 3. A new Parliament was built and Modi ji took the country’s economy from 11th to 5th…. But West Bengal has been left behind because of didi’s (Mamata Banerjee) politics of appeasement,” he said.

Shah also said that the people of the state want the BJP government in West Bengal.

“The people of Bengal are saying, ‘Didi, Aapka Samay Ab Samaapt Ho Chuka Hai’ (Didi, your time is up now!),” he said.

Shah also appealed to people to elect the BJP government in the next assembly elections.

“The people of West Bengal have blessed the BJP with around 2.30 crore votes and 77 seats…their enthusiasm states clearly that they have decided to bring the BJP Government in 2026! You should remember that in order to bring the BJP government to power here in 2026, you’ll have to lay its very foundation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections…Give so many seats to BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha polls that Modi ji says I have become PM due to Bengal…” Shah said. Modi Urges People To Shun Marriages Abroad; Hold Them In India

Pushing further the Central government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday citizens not to organise weddings abroad, and urged people of the country to hold wedding celebrations in the country.

PM Modi, while addressing the nation in the latest edition of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat on Sunday urged people to give importance to products made in India only during shopping for weddings.

“The wedding season as well has commenced now. Some trade organisations estimate that there could be a business of around Rs 5 lakh crore during this wedding season. While shopping for weddings, all of you should give importance to products made in India only,” the PM said.

He further said that the poor people will get an opportunity to render some service if the weddings are arranged in the country.

“And yes, since the topic of marriage has come up, one thing has been troubling me off and on for a long time…. and if I don’t open up my heart’s pain to my family members, who else do I do it with? Just ponder… these days a new milieu is being created by some families to go abroad and conduct weddings. Is this at all necessary? If we celebrate the festivities of marriages on Indian soil, amid the people of India, the country’s money will remain in the country. The people of the country will get an opportunity to render some service or the other at your wedding… Can you extrapolate on this mission of ‘Vocal for Local’? Why don’t we hold such wedding ceremonies in our own country?” the PM added.

The PM further said that the year 2023 marks the second consecutive year when the trend of buying some goods through cash payments on the occasion of Diwali is gradually on the decline.

“That means, people are making more and more digital payments now,” he added.

PM Modi, while commemorating the victims on the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, added, “We can never forget the 26th of November. It was on this very day that the country came under the dastardliest terror attack. The terrorists (from Pakistan) spelt fear not just in Mumbai but across the country. However, it was our combined fortitude and resilience that made us rise again from the ordeal inflicted on us by the terrorists and crush terror with full strength and resolve.”

Congratulating countrymen on the occasion of Constitution Day, said it was unfortunate that the first amendment of the Constitution ‘pertained to curtailing’ the freedom of speech and expression.

“In keeping with the changing times, circumstances and requirements of the country, previous governments (at the Centre) carried out amendments (to the Constitution) at different times. However, it is our misfortune that the first amendment of the Constitution pertained to curtailing the freedom of speech and expression,” PM Modi said during the 107th edition of his monthly radio address on Sunday.

“However, through the 44th amendment, the wrongs committed during the Emergency (during the Prime Ministership of Indira Gandhi) were duly rectified,” PM Modi noted during his address. (ANI)

Cong Launches All-Out Attack At Centre As Demonetisation Completes Seven Yrs

The Congress party on Wednesday launched an all-out attack against the central government’s demonetisation move, on a day the exercise completed seven years.

Leading the attack on the central leadership, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge termed the demonetization drive the biggest assault on India’s economy and livelihood.

“Indians are still nursing the wound of this mindless giant attack,” he wrote on his X timeline, alleging that the move left lakhs of small businesses shut, job loss, people’s savings destroyed,

“But seven years down the line, people of India badly battered and bruised on that fateful night of November 8, are still searching for answers!” Kharge said. “Why were crores of people made to stand in lines, waiting for their own money?”

Further, he also asked whether the ‘black money’ menace wiped off, terror-related incidents stopped, and did fake currency decreased after the demonetization drive.

“Why couldn’t we become a ‘Cashless Economy’ without wiping off 86.4 per cent notes at one go? Hasn’t the Cash in Circulation now soared by a whopping 83 per cent since 2016?” he further asked.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi termed the 2016 move to be a well-thought-out conspiracy to destroy employment, stop the income of workers, eliminate small businesses, harm farmers, and break the unorganized economy.

Rahul Gandhi alleged it was an attack on 99 per cent of common Indians to benefit 1 per cent of capitalists.

Echoing the voice of his party boss Kharge and leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh joined the attack, alleging that the demonetization broke the back of the Indian economy and epitomised the unique combination of hubris, inhumanity and economic illiteracy that is the hallmark of the Modi government.

“Demonetisation along with a badly designed and hurriedly rushed through GST finished off India’s job-generating small and medium businesses, caused a 45-year unemployment high, and ended the economic recovery that had begun in 2013, all while failing to achieve any of its stated objectives,” Jairam said.

“It led to a record concentration of wealth and power, particularly among a handful of large monopolies that have sustained the BJP financially even as the people continue to grapple with joblessness and price rise caused by the same monopolization,” Jairam said in an X post.

He cited a Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) report that noted that 15 lakhs jobs were decimated from January to April 2017, equating it to be a likely result of demonetisation.

“Demonetisation was a monumental blunder that failed to achieve any of the shifting goalposts that the Modi government had proposed as objectives–whether reducing the spread of black money, ending counterfeiting or making India cashless,” Jairam added.

Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also took on the Government on the issue.

Taking to his X timeline coinciding with the demonetisation exercise turning seven, the Congress leader asked the Prime Minister whether he should “celebrate the occasion or mourn for abysmal failure.”

“Respected PM @narendramodi Ji, today is the 7th anniversary of #DEMONITIZATION touted as your visionary step for ERADICATION OF BLACK MONEY from India. Now should we celebrate the occasion or mourn for abysmal failure,” Adhir Chowdhury posted on X.

The Centre had on November 8, 2016, decided to cancel the legal tender status of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination currency notes with several objectives, including flushing out black money, eliminating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), striking at the root of financing of terrorism and left-wing extremism, to convert non-formal economy into a formal economy to expand tax base and employment, and to give a big boost to digitalisation of payments to make India a less cash economy.

As a result of the demonetisation drive, there is a substantial increase in the number of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) filed, the government has on various occasions maintained.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier noted that the demonetisation exercise helped reduce black money, increase tax compliance and formalization and give a boost to transparency. The Prime Minister had also said, “These outcomes have been greatly beneficial towards national progress.”

There have been accusations that many Indians have parked black money in foreign safe havens, with political parties promising to bring them back and book those individuals under relevant law. (ANI)

Govt Offices On Alert Mode G20 summit

G20 Week: Govt Offices On Alert Mode From Misleading, Counterfeit Emails

As G20 week begins, all government offices are on alert mode considering a warning circulated earlier from a designated wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) from any “misleading, fake and counterfeit” emails being circulated by ill elements.

The move is part of extra vigilance to avoid any unprecedented situation as the two-day G20 Leaders Summit is scheduled to be held on September 9-10 in the national capital.

On August 24, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C) under the MHA had warned that “the misleading emails are targeted to various government offices, and individuals and falsely accuse them of cybercrimes, urging them to respond.”

Focussing with a header of “Scam alert”, the warning pointed that “fake emails are in circulation impersonating CEO 14C”

“This is an important alert about the circulation of counterfeit emails impersonating CEO-I4C Rajesh Kumar, bearing the subject ‘Urgent Notification!’, ‘Court Notification’,” mentions the alert.

These emails employ the logos of the I4C, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Delhi Police and wrongfully associate with the names of the undersigned and the particulars of this unit, it reads.

“The logos and emails in question are intentionally fake, deceptive and created with malicious motives.”

In the warning, the I4C wing said: “It is important to clarify that neither the undersigned nor this unit has initiated such emails. Furthermore, no authorization has been granted by the undersigned for the production or dissemination of such content. Appropriate measures are being taken to address this issue.”

Officials in various crucial departments under the Central government said “reminders” are being circulated internally to not respond to malicious mail and raise the matter immediately after they find anything similar to it.

The 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi will be a culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies.

A G20 Leaders’ declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the G20 Summit, stating Leaders’ commitment towards the priorities discussed and agreed upon during the respective ministerial and working group meetings. (ANI)
