Do Meditation At Your Home: Kharge To Modi

New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): As Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditates at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari for two days, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Friday that politics and religion should never be brought together and if you have faith in God, then do it at your home.

“Politics and religion should never be brought together. these two should be kept separate. A man of one religion can be with you and a man of another religion can be against you. It is wrong to link religious sentiments with elections. He is going to Kanniyakumari and performing drama. How much money in the country is being wasted by employing so many police officers? The show-off you are doing by going there is only going to cause harm to the country. If you have faith in God then do it at your home,” Kharge said.

Prime Minister Modi is in Kanniyakumari on a spiritual visit. He is meditating at the Dhyan Mandapam, the place where revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision about ‘Bharat Mata’. He will continue his meditation till June 1.

Further, the Congress President said that in Andhra Pradesh, BJP will get some seats but in states like Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra, Congress has the advantage.

“Whatever he (PM Modi) may say, the people of the country have decided that they won’t accept the leadership of PM Modi. Inflation and unemployment have worked in this election. The issue of the constitution and democracy are also there in people’s minds. In Andhra, they (BJP) will get some (seats) but in Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra. Congress has the advantage. In UP also, we will get more seats due to the alliance. I think the alliance’s government will be formed,” Mallikarjun Kharge said.

“Many people have understood how they (BJP) are ending reservations. If their intentions had been good, they would have filled the 30 lakh vacancies in central govt, and more than half would have gone to the poor, Dalits and backward. By the time this country has untouchability and they (people in reserved categories) don’t get equal rights, reservations will be there,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi drew criticism from the Congress after his remark that the world got to know about Mahatma Gandhi after the 1982 ‘Gandhi’ movie.

Reacting to it, Kharge said, “If a person from Gujarat does not know about Mahatma Gandhi then what can we say? Why are you not promoting the man whom we consider the father of the nation? He was a Gujarati too. We have respect for him but you chose to go with Godse.” (ANI)

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking bail

Going To Jail To Save Country From Dictatorship: Kejriwal

As the deadline to surrender nears, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday posted an emotional message and said that he is proud that he is going to jail to save the country from dictatorship.

Kejriwal had got interim bail from the Supreme Court on May 10 and was asked to surrender to Tihar jail on June 2.

In his video message, Kejriwal said, “Tomorrow the 21 days are getting over, the day after tomorrow I have to surrender. I don’t know how long they will keep me in jail this time. But my spirits are high. I am going to jail to save the country from dictatorship. I am proud of this. They tried to break me many times, tried to make me bow down but I didn’t.”

“When I was in jail, they tortured me in many ways and stopped my medicines. I have been a serious diabetic for 20 years. For ten years I have been getting insulin injections daily, four times a day. In jail, they stopped my injections for many days, my sugar reached 300-325. If the sugar remains so high for so many days, then the kidneys and liver get damaged. I don’t know what they wanted, why did they do this,” he added.

Further, the Delhi CM said that even after being released from jail, his weight is not increasing and his doctors suspect the possibility of some major disease.

“I was in jail for 50 days and in these 50 days, I lost 6 kg of weight. When I went to jail, my weight was 70 kg, today it is 64 kg. Even after being released from jail, my weight is not increasing. The doctor is saying that there may be some major disease in the body, and many tests may have to be done. The ketone level in the urine has become very high. The day after tomorrow I will leave home at 3 pm to surrender,” Arvind Kejriwal said.

The Delhi CM also asserted that the work in the National Capital will continue and after returning, he will start giving thousand rupees per month to every woman.

“All your work will continue, wherever I live, inside or outside, I will not let the work of Delhi stop. Your free electricity, mohalla clinics, hospitals, free medicines, treatment, free bus travel for women, 24-hour electricity and all other work will continue. After returning, I will also start giving thousand rupees per month to every mother and sister,” Kejriwal said.

He also urged the people to pray for his ailing parents.

“Today I am asking something from you for my family. My parents are very old. My mother is very ill. I worry a lot about them in jail. Take care of my parents after me, pray for them, pray to God. Prayer has great power,” he said.

“We are all fighting against dictatorship together. If something happens to me to save the country, even if I lose my life, then do not be sad. Because of your prayers, I am alive today and your blessings will protect me in future too. In the end, I would just like to say, if God wishes, this son of yours will come back very soon,” the Delhi CM added. (ANI)

Atishi water crisis delhi

Atishi Writes To Shekhawat Amid Water Crisis In Delhi

Amid the water crisis in the National Capital, Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Friday wrote a letter to Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Shekhawat seeking his urgent intervention in the matter.

In her letter, Atishi said, “As you are aware, Delhi is heavily dependent on water from the Yamuna River to meet its day-to-day demand for water. However, in the last few days, there has been a drastic dip in the water levels at the Wazirabad Barrage as Haryana is not releasing the required amount of water in the Yamuna River. This has resulted in a massive crisis of water in the national capital. Moreover, the temperature in Delhi has touched almost 50 degrees. This has further intensified the demand for water putting an additional burden on the already strained demand-supply chain of potable drinking water in Delhi.”

She also mentioned that if Haryana does not release adequate water, then plants in Delhi will not be able to function optimally.

“If adequate water is not released by Haryana then our plants would not be able to function optimally. And if the water treatment plants do not function optimally, then Delhi will not be able to meet its demand-supply gap. This will have a serious and direct implication on the people living in the national capital. I have already written to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini ji to appraise him of the issue. However, we are yet to receive a response from his office,” Atishi said in her letter.

The Delhi Minister highlighted that they have formed on-ground teams to take immediate action against those who are found wasting water.

“However, these standalone steps will not be sufficient to curtail water scarcity in the national capital. I am writing to request you to ensure that some provision of water is made for Delhi, be it from Haryana or UP or any other state that may be able to spare water, so that the people of Delhi don’t suffer. We request your urgent intervention in the issue. The State of Haryana must immediately release Delhi’s rightful share of water into the Yamuna River to bring the waters to the normal level of 674.5 feet,” the letter to Shekhawat said.

Earlier on Friday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal made an appeal to the centre and the BJP to urge the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to help Delhi meet its water demand. (ANI)

Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir

India reiterates its stance on PoJK

Reiterating India’s stance on Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh are integral part of India. He stated that India is not in favour of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as it goes against New Delhi’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

In response to a query on reports of increased cooperation between Pakistan and China during the weekly media briefing, Jaiswal stated, “On PoK, we are very consistent in our position. We want to tell you, the whole of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the union territories, they are part of India, an integral part of India. They were an integral part of India. They are an integral part of India and they will remain an integral part of India.”

“Our position on CPEC also is well known to you. We are not in favour of it. We are against it. It goes against our territorial integrity and sovereignty,” he added.

Randhir Jaiswal’s statement comes after Pakistan and China agreed to advance their joint project CPEC and backed finalising the modalities for third-party participation.

In a joint press stakeout, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed satisfaction over the steady pace of CPEC and vowed to “further upgrade and expand this cooperation,” Pakistan-based Geo News reported.

The two leaders after co-chairing the fifth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, spoke about their in-depth discussion on the multiple facets of their bilateral relations including CPEC. Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi expressed commitment to continue extending support to each other on issues of core interest.

Dar said that Pakistan and China would pace up the implementation of the Main Line-1 railway line project, Gwadar Port development, realignment of Phase 2 of the Karakorum Highway, and strengthen cooperation in energy, agriculture, mining, minerals, information technology, and industry sectors, according to Geo News report.

He said, “As we embark on the second phase of CPEC, we look forward to developing corridors of growth, livelihood, innovation, green development, and inclusivity,” according to Geo News report.

Notably, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a USD 50 billion Pakistani component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The 3,000 km Chinese infrastructure network project is under construction in Pakistan and aims to connect Pakistan’s Gwadar and Karachi ports to China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region by land.

Earlier in March, Baloch political activist informed the United Nations Human Rights Council about the ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, especially the worsening situation since the CPEC project.

While making an intervention during the ongoing 52nd Session of the Council, Munir Mengal, the president of Baloch Voice Association, said, “The situation in Balochistan, Pakistan demands immediate attention due to the systematic abuse of human rights and the disregard for the basic freedoms and liberties of its people.”

He informed the Council that the human rights situation in Balochistan escalated after the construction of the multi-billion dollar CPEC project.

“The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been a source of great concern for the Baloch people. This multi-billion-dollar project is seen as an attempt to eliminate the Baloch people from their land, loot their resources and suppress their voices. The Baloch people are facing mass displacement, enforced disappearances, and military operations, as they are being systematically neglected, suppressed, and oppressed,” said Munir Mengal. (ANI)

Every year, a large number of Indian students join medical and other universities in Kyrgyzstan for further studies. At the moment, about 17,000 Indian students are in the country spread across many cities but most of them are in Bishkek, according to Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan press release.

BJD chief Naveen Patnaik

Patnaik Dismisses Allegations Of VK Pandian Controlling The State

Dismissing allegations made by BJP leaders of VK Pandian “controlling the state”, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that these are ridiculous and hold no significance.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, on being questioned if his close associate VK Pandian acts as a gatekeeper and whether he takes all decisions on his behalf, Patnaik said, “That is ridiculous and I have said it often before. This is an old allegation and it holds no weight”.

On BJP making such accusations against his close confidant, Patnaik suggested that such allegations stem from the BJP’s increasing desperation due to their declining popularity both in Odisha and nationally.

“I see it that they are getting more and more desperate, particularly as their popularity is waning in the country,” Patnaik asserted.

Addressing queries about his party’s future leadership, Patnaik assured that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is focused on serving the people of Odisha.

“They see how the party is being run and the party is being run for the service of the people of Odisha and will continue to do so,” Patnaik affirmed.

The Odisha CM also clarified that the future of his party and the question of his successor will be decided by the people.

“I have said repeatedly that the successor will be decided by the people of the state. That is the natural result of these things,” Naveen Patnaik said.

VK Pandian, a 2000 batch Indian Administrative Service officer who was Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s private secretary until recently, faced allegations of “controlling the state”.

Posting a video of Naveen Patnaik’s election speech, BJP’s Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that VK Pandian appeared to be controlling the hand movements of the Odisha CM.

Earlier, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Odisha’s Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, alleged that not even a leaf in Patnaik’s government can move without Pandian’s permission.

“As per my information, no one is allowed to enter Naveen Niwas except one person (VK Pandian). Not even a leaf can move without his permission. There is no telephone in his room, nor is there any Odia channel in his room. I say with responsibility that the Odia employees at Naveen Niwas himself are saying that, What condition has been made of the Chief Minister of Odisha,” Pradhan said.

Meanwhile, Patnaik is confident that his party will return to power in the state for a sixth term and that the BJD will win a lion’s share of the 21 seats in the Lok Sabha from the state. Patnaik said his priority was to continue to ensure the welfare of the people.

“We have been progressing in several fields, on education, on health. agriculture on irrigations of controlling national calamities programs for women all that we have gone we have done a great deal and we intend to do much,” he said.

The assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha are taking place simultaneously, in four phases, from May 13 to June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4. Naveen Patnaik (77) has been serving as the Chief Minister of Odisha since 2000 and is the second-longest serving CM of any Indian state. He is seeking a record sixth term in power in the state. Adani Power's Net Profit Rises To Rs 2,738 Cr In October-December Quarter

Adani Green Energy Achieves Rating Upgrade To ‘IND AA-‘ With Stable Outlook: Ind-Ra

India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has upgraded Adani Green Energy Limited’s (AGEL) Long-Term Issuer Rating from ‘IND A+’ to ‘IND AA-‘. The outlook is stable, reflecting the company’s robust operational performance, improved leverage metrics, and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing its financial stability and growth prospects.

The upgrade considers AGEL’s continued strong operational asset performance and a scale-up in execution, with annual capacity additions projected to increase to 4GW-5GW from the previous 2.5-3.5GW.

The rating also factors in healthy counterparty diversification and a reduction in receivables, leading to better cash flow from operations.

Ind-Ra’s rating action includes several specific upgrades and affirmations. The long-term issuer rating was upgraded to ‘IND AA-‘, and both fund-based and non-fund-based limits saw similar upgrades.

Notably, the size of fund-based limits was reduced to Rs 2.80 billion from Rs 5.15 billion, and non-fund-based limits were reduced to Rs 97.25 billion from Rs 105.05 billion.

AGEL’s improved leverage is a key driver of the rating upgrade. The company has moderated its leverage to more reasonable levels (5.5-6.5x) from historically high levels of 9.0x.

This improvement is due to equity infusions, asset monetization, and better operational performance.

AGEL has also changed its policy to earmark funds for repaying the USD 750 million holdco bond, further strengthening its financial position.

The creation of a platform within AGEL with Total Energies SE is another significant factor. This partnership allows for partial asset monetization while retaining consolidation benefits.

The equity infusion by promoters through warrants, with 25 per cent already received, and the company’s ability to secure both debt and equity to ensure a fully funded under-construction portfolio also contribute to the positive rating action.

AGEL’s operational cash flow remains strong, supporting its debt obligations and equity requirements for new projects.

The company’s strategy of using letters of credit and revolving construction facilities ensures timely debt tie-up for its special purpose vehicles (SPVs), mitigating funding risks.

AGEL’s operational capacity increased to 10.9GW at the end of FY24, up from 8.1GW in FY23 and 5.4GW in FY22. The operational portfolio is diversified, with 72 per cent of counterparties rated ‘AA+’ and above, and 6 per cent as merchant exposure.

The portfolio’s composition, with 68 per cent solar, 13 per cent wind, and 20 per cent hybrid, along with a high DC ratio, lowers variability in generation and cash flow.

The company’s sound operating parameters are evident in its healthy plant load factors (PLFs) and continuous capacity additions.

AGEL’s consolidated EBITDA increased to Rs 73 billion in FY24, up from Rs 55 billion in FY23 and Rs 35.1 billion in FY22.

The run-rate EBITDA (excluding other income) stood at Rs 92 billion, indicating a strong financial performance that supports cash flow from operations.

AGEL’s liquidity is reinforced by its access to capital markets and the revolving construction facility.

The company’s cash flow from operations increased to Rs 77.1 billion during FY24, while its total project-specific debt stood at RS 536 billion.

The repayment of the USD 750 million holdco bonds, due in FY25, has been defeased, ensuring no immediate liquidity pressures.

AGEL’s large under-construction portfolio of 11.4GW provides growth visibility, with risks managed through strategic land banks and softened module prices.

The company’s forex exposure is mitigated through 100 per cent hedging of interest and principal payments, reflecting prudent financial management. (ANI)
